Moods line up stations by the feeling they put in the room rather than the style of music. A chill jazz station and a chill ambient station both land under chill, even though they do not share much else. Useful when you already know the vibe you want but do not care what genre gets you there. The short list of moods is deliberate. Keeping it small means each one holds enough stations to feel worth clicking into, instead of splitting the catalogue into dozens of thin categories nobody actually browses.
If you already know the exact style you want, the Genre page gets you there in one step. Moods are most useful for the middle ground: you know you want something focused, or something upbeat for a room full of people, but the genre could be anything.
