Radio Centraal is the unrivaled champion of alternative radio Belgium. It's a chaotic, beautiful mess. Broadcasting from Antwerp, the station shoves aside commercial polish in favor of genuine discovery. The playlist: Congolese rumba, Dutch indie rock, Malian blues, Belgian punk. It's a world music encyclopedia with a punk attitude. The talk segments drag a bit (too much chitchat in Dutch for my taste) but the music blocks more than compensate.
