Baku has a jazz history that few outsiders know. Media fm jazz taps into that lineage, and it doesn't try to mimic New York or London. The pulse is distinctly Azerbaijani. Think of the oozing piano lines of Vagif Mustafazadeh, the man who brought mugam modes into jazz back in the Soviet years.
