Radio Hauraki

Radio Hauraki has been New Zealand's rock authority since the 1960s. It started as a pirate station broadcasting from a ship in the Hauraki Gulf, and that rebellious spirit still lingers. The playlist is built on classic rock - think Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd - but with a healthy dose of Kiwi rock legends: Split Enz, Shihad, and The Datsuns get regular play. The morning shows can be a bit too jock-centric for my taste, but the daytime music blocks are solid. You'll rarely hear a dud track.
