Radio Jhapa

Jhapa sits in Nepal's far eastern Terai, a flat, green district of tea gardens, rice paddies, and the Mechi river marking the Indian border. Radio here doesn't sound like the Nepal you'd get on a Kathmandu station. It's warmer, more local, and happily bilingual. Nepali sits next to Rajbanshi, Maithili, and whatever Hindi film song is stuck in everyone's head that week.
