Sandarva Sanchar Radio is a Nepali station that leans on the country's own music, and that alone makes it worth your time. Expect folk: lok geet built on madal drums and sarangi, sung in Nepali, often recorded live rather than polished in a studio. That's the appeal. Adhunik geet should get plenty of room too, the gentle, string-heavy songs Narayan Gopal and Arun Thapa made permanent. Then there's the modern stuff, Nepali pop and indie from Kathmandu's younger crowd, which sits surprisingly well beside the older material. The mix isn't seamless. Honestly, that's fine.
