Radio Deshantar

Nepali radio has a particular rhythm to it, and Radio Deshantar slots into that rhythm rather than fighting it. Expect the mix a lot of listeners in Kathmandu and beyond grew up with: adhunik geet, lok geet, a few ghazals, and the Hindi and Nepali pop that spills across the border either way. Narayan Gopal still gets airtime, as he should. So does Aruna Lama. Newer stuff from acts like Kutumba or Bartika Eam Rai turns up too, which keeps the whole thing from becoming a nostalgia exercise.
